Must not be much of a commute if they are both going to the same supermarket…

Uh-oh… trouble’s about to brew (of course it already has since the start of this arc last week).

I think they can live without lemonade until the time comes when she’d normally have gotten off work. They can always drink water til then. Or Evie can go get it.

I thought Val was smarter than this. I guess not. You play hooky and then go out in public? Dumb, dumb, dumb. Of course, this is from someone who could never take a “mental health” day—I am convinced that karma will get me, and that I would really wind up sick.

every time I called for a “mental health day” I made sure I just stayed home. One Christmas I actually was out doing some shopping and saw my boss at lunch, thank goodness she didn’t see me. I was in my car leaving the area and I saw her walking into a restaurant.

You can go to the store but you pick up a box of tissues, some cold medicine, kinda mess your hair up and shuffle along and just happen to pick up some other stuff for the rest of the family since you made it this far.

Just tell him you are on your way back from the doctor and are waiting for a prescription. It helps if you sigh and shuffle, too.

When I was kid and legitimately home sick I would stay away from the windows so no one would go past and think I was playing hooky.
