Umm, actually Adam and Eve were vegetarians. Humans didn’t start eating meat till after Noah. According to Genesis.

@sottwell and SkyFisher: Your chronology is in error. Adam & Eve were banished from the garden (along with the entry of death and killing for meat) long before the flood.

I think those are Adam’s ribs, from which God made Eve?

Afraid I’m not much of a biblical scholar but as my memory serves, God had man give names to the animals (implying that man assigned uses as well) and why else would Noah be commanded to bring a breeding pair of each unless they were of use? It would be eons before they had zoos or pets for that matter.
