I agree – Alix has it right. If I can just pretend that I have things exactly as I’d wish, then I can feel perfectly happy too. I woke up today with JUST such a feeling.
In high school, rainy days we got to do what we wanted for gym. There was a group of us(boys and sometimes girls) that would hit the pool. One of the coaches would come out after 20 min or so and make us come in(he didn’t want to play lifeguard in the rain). Good times!
We prevent kids from doing all kinds of benign things, often for no better reason than we can.
When my daughter was seven or eight, she suddenly decided it would be fun to sleep in the car. For the life of me I couldn’t think of a valid reason to refuse her. We lived well out of the city in the middle of a working farm. The little dog had to sleep with her. They were less than ten fee from my bed – much closer than her own bed, if that mattered. It was high summer.
I never discovered what the attraction was, but it lasted less than a week. It was much easier than the battle that would have ensued had I refused to let her do it just because it was … eccentric.
No, I wouldn’t have let her do it in town, or anywhere there was a lot of traffic.
I didn’t realize Jan was in Oregon, but until the last couple of years, lightening was almost unheard of in Western Oregon. Swimming risks were mostly confined to the water risks.
Looks like Oregonians are going to have to think about new risks …

All our rain comes in thunderstorms, that’s why not!

It looks downright sunny under Alix’s umbrella. I think a lot has to do with her attitude.

I LOVE this little girl — she is the most interesting character! Someone you’d like to know and be friends with…unlike her moody sister.

Do the Stones live in Oregon (like Jan)? If you want to do something you don’t wait for it to stop raining.

Ditch the umbrella…YOU’RE WET!!!
It depends on how hard it’s coming down. It’s no fun if it’s pouring rain.

The splats off the pool and lawn chair are so whimsical and realistic at the same time!

Let’s just take it at face value: It is a pleasant cartoon – that’s all :/

It rains plenty of times in Wisconsin that it’s just rain without thunder and lightning.
