Having a free press is essential to Democracy just as much as free speech. We also should be free to peaceably assemble ,to protest when if needed. When our legislators will not listen to the people, the people have to make themselves heard.
The press nor the citizenry receive a carte blanche in the exercise of their freedom/rights. The release of classified information by either is a crime and needs to be investigated. This is under the purview of DOJ and Mr. Holder was doing his job legally and rightly.
Your points can only be ascertained by the legal process which is ongoing. Our opinions nor the frequency of violations cannot be determined except by the executive and judicial branches. And with the umbrella of the Patriot Act enacted during the Bush administration and extended in 2011 the actions taken by DOJ are legal and germane.
The U.S has a constitutional system whose foundation is a set of laws, which includes the Patriot Act, It determines what is valid and licit. Not my opinions or yours is of any consequence. Emotional diatribes allows one to vent, but are irrelevant to the subject or issue here.
Its actually the Espoinage Act of 1917 which includes the sedition acts of 1918 (which were repealed in 1920). But of course you already knew that, right (since you know everything)?
And China is investing more in infrastructure in Iraq, and getting more oil, than we are. So, nice going on that little war Cheney said Iraq would pay for with their oil money?
“You’re only interested in taking the subject off the erroneous assertion that it’s the Patriot Act.”
When did I make that assumption? Oh that’s right. You make up your own arguments and pretend that I said them. I was simply correcting an error in your part (only a numb skull would confuse the espionage acts and sedition acts as one.
“Actually, I did know that,. I was trying to keep it simple for simpletons like you.”
By confusing the Espionage Acts with the Sedition Acts? Way to keep it simple pops.
The [Espionage Act] was extended on May 16, 1918, blah, blah, wiki rules, blah blah…
And yet with that long winded explanation you still can’t tell them apart.

Let’s not pretend this is purely an Obama/Democrat issue. Republicans demand (again) special investigator to investigate leaks

The U.S. Constitution is telling you that the Patriot Act is the law of the land. Read both for your edification.
