I have become such a fan of this strip in the last several months. I love Peter and Alice, and Dill too.

His face practically inflates in the third panel. Frankly, it’s terrifying.

Still no proof yet that our boy Ernesto isn’t a figment of Petey’s overwrought psyche. Doesn’t make him any less wonderful, though. Love the sweater-vest and tweed blazer.

The shape of Ernesto’s head makes him look kind of like a child version of John Hodgman.

I can’t help but hear Ernesto’s voice as the voice of Martin Prince on the Simpsons. But I like the John Hodgman nod.

I started reading this strip during the “petting zoo trip” sequence - and quicly became my favorite! After this (short) time, I realized this was filling the void that was left by the end of Calvin & Hobbes!

Oh, Ernesto is no figment! He’ll prove that eventually.

This comic makes getting the “Genius” tag worth it for me, just to be able to go all the way back to 2007.

Hmmm… A “lacuna” is a blank space or gap. So Ernesto having a last name is indicative of existence, but the name he possesses contraindicates existence. Maddening, maddening…

But I hope this storyline is a mere lacuna in the Timmy Fretwork plotline. Frankly, the Ernesto strips aren’t my favorites.

Ernesto really has his eye on becoming Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Did you mean John Houseman? Never mind, I should have looked up the name first.

You’re right about John Hodgman and lacuna. Ernesto’s also a pun on the Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona. I don’t know why. I didn’t know about Orez; that’s good.

Thanks to all who comment here. I greatly enjoy reading these.
