    Yeah, but when they talk to passengers,n they use lay men’s language because many won’t understand port or starboard.

    My Chicago newspaper didn’t run this Bliss strip today and ran a 2011 Bliss strip instead.

    Not funny – but a two-engine jet must be able to fly and land with one engine. Each engine is held on by four (only) bolts so that critical vibrations cause it to fall off rather than destroying the airframe.

    That actually happened to my dad. Was flying out of Idlewild (now JFK; that’s how long ago this was) when an engine left the aircraft and headed for the Atlantic. The plane turned back to NY; everyone hopped off onto another plane and off they went again.
