It really is NOT about the “assault weapons”, it’s the NRA resistance, and obstruction to any rules that regulate SHORT BARREL weapons, NOT “rifles”. It IS those short weapons with high ammunition capacity that do 99.9 percent of the killing, homicide, armed robberies, and yes, suicides. (but granted, suicides rarely take more than one round, well unless it’s in Texas where 5 rounds in the back of the head, from a bolt action rifle, can still be classed as a “suicide”.)
It doesn’t help when people like Cory Booker go on TV and overstate the problem. He said thousands of people are killed every day. Actually, the truth is bad enough, about 33 or 34 people are killed in the U.S. every day.Politifact did a long write-up on the subject.http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2013/apr/04/booker-latest-democrat-exaggerate-gun-violence-sta/
He and Lady Macbeth. Oh, except he has NO conscience about murdered children. The Lady actually did rue her crimes. NRA isn’t concerned about children dying. That’s the difference
The NRA is no more responsible for Sandy Hook than the AAA is responsible for a wreck on the Interstate! Both organizations advocate the safe, responsible use of a product and are not responsible for their misuse!
Strawman much? That “doctor” was prosecuted and convicted for murder, and rightly so. He broke the law. Doctors who perform abortions within the restrictions of Roe vs. Wade (the circumstances of which are none of your business, by the way) are not breaking the law. If you don’t believe an abortion is morally right, then don’t have one.
Amazing when the so-called proponents of “right to life” have no problems being proponents of deadly weapon worship, unnecessary and immoral wars off the budget and capital punishment.
Nothing reported in the news about the 17 year-old who killed the baby and shot the mother because she had no money? How did you hear about it? I certainly heard in on the news, along with follow-up stories.
dtroutma’s right….. Hoplophobes will come after the real statistical killers, handguns, next. First go after the ugly black assault rifles, then the pistols, then the ‘sniper rifles’, then the shotguns, then the sharp sticks…
Wow, wrong again. No one has tried to pin Sandy Hook on all gun owners. Thats simply gun-idolizer’s hyperbole. The fact remains, though, that if the assault weapons ban had been in place, Lanza’s mom wouldn’t have been able to legally purchase the weapon that killed all those kids. You know what you can do with your free pass…(as if you were at all qualified to issue any).
