Irony – reading a strip about a cat snubbing her food as my own cat has ingratiated herself between me and the keyboard after dragging her food bowl loudly from the hallway into the computer room, wanting to BE. FED. NOW!!! And it’s about two hours before her regular morning feeding time.

Does your cat cover her food dish with something and meow until you fix it?

    Dogs don’t do this.

Our cat insists on being shown his food bowl each time, even though it’s always in the same spot.

Depends on the cat and the food in question. My mom’s cat – “Oh, canned food? Thank you, but I’m fine with the dry.”Most of mine – “Canned food?! OH YES!! GIMME, GIMME! MINE! OUTTA THE WAY!”One of mine – “Canned food? Is it the good kind? Are you sure?”And then there is Cody. Extremely polite in asking for a taste of something…unless it is home made jerky, in which case it becomes a case of “HAND IT OVER NOW AND NO ONE GETS HURT!”

This is what my dog does, smell from 6 feet away! He’s picky.

My cat taught my dog how to do this. They had real personality confusion. They were very close to eachother. The cat barked, the dog purred, they were both danty eaters, but sloppy water drinkers. The cat curled around my head, the dog was around my neck so I was covered in fur. And they each did jigs for Cheetos or carmel popcorn.

So far my rescued cat (5 months ago) has not picked up the finicky habits of his two brothers. But I fear it won’t be much longer.

My cat snubs the potted meat when it is served fresh out of the can, but many times the following day it has been consumed moslty. In the meantime, he isn’t finicky about leaving half a bird carcass on the front door mat.

My cat eats most of her canned food then comes over and stares at me so that I’ll give her more. I’ll tell her she hasn’t finished what she already has. Cats are hard to argue with :)

When my cat thinks it’s feeding time (which is most of the time to him) he does not say meow. He says Now! Now? Nooooooow. Now!

@Boxbabies – loved your description of your cats methods.

My cat isn’t a picky eater. If his food bowl, or even his water bowl, are empty, he’ll rub and bug us until I fill them.

My kitty gets only dry so it’s out all the time. She never leavs the house and has problems with anestisa so she’s not been fixed, and if she’s in heat she won’t eat, but otherwise treats go at a good rate.
