I remember the old days — not 1947 but soon after that. Nuclear waste was considered dangerous, it was related to atomic bombs, but if you just dumped it somewhere, someplace no one cares about, or just in the ocean, that was fine. The word “pollution” was unknown, except in relation to self-abuse.
