While being a god-parent is an honor, it is also a religious obligation. It is NOT a popularity contest, folks! (OK, so I’m a preacher’s kid. Can’t help myself.)

I never had anyone to be Godparents to our children now adults.

It is also not necessarily so that the godparents are married to each other. Just my younger brother and I alone had unrelated godparents; I am godfather to a young man whose godmother is his mother’s sister, who I haven’t seen since the baptism.
