Our previous cat had to be shaved because she stopped shedding her fur. It took some time getting used to looking at her.

It’s called a “lion cut” and it’s common if you’ve got a long-haired cat that for some reason can’t keep all that fur naturally groomed properly.

Poodles were originally retrievers. The cut was to reduce the amount of fur to get waterlogged while still providing major insulation at the joints. The ball at the end of the tail was a later whimsey.

It’s called a lion cut, and my long-haired cat hated being shaved but loved the results…she was visibly more playful and more active now that she didn’t have to wear that heavy coat all summer.

Our cat’s hair didn’t grow back on the sides after its lion cut, it looks like it has a mohawk on it’s back now.
