If the mites are females they are made of sugar and spices and all things nice. Just like a certain squirrel as well.

Actually, most of the stuff that we are made from (carbon, oxygen, etc.) was created by nuclear reactions in the stars long after the Big Bang. When those early stars ended their life cycle and blew apart, the elements that they had synthesized were ejected into space where they came together for the next generation of stars, and out solar system was formed from that material.
