The emergency room said I had a sprained knee. But my orthopedist knew the loud POP was diagnostic of a ruptured quadriceps tendon. (That and the fact I couldn’t extend the lower leg.) Yep, tore that sucker right off the kneecap.

It can’t be serious: I don’t see any bones sticking out, and no blood. Just those weird wires, or maybe the raveled threads of your uniform.

@EMET, is this where you suggested? I’ll be gone most of the day, but be back when I can. What do you want to discuss?

Purgatory: did I give my model for what it’s about? I always see it like going to a wedding when the car gets stuck: you have the invitations, but by the time you get it out of the mud, you’re in no state to go to the wedding. Neither you nor the other guests would be comfortable. You have to go home and change.

So purgatory is: you’ve already been accepted into heaven, but you realize you’re not yet ready, you need purging of some remaining attachments to sin. It’s that time of purging, purifying.

I think I also commented on the Book of Revelation, since it’s quite popular nowadays. I don’t get caught in all the symbols. Rather, I see the contrast between the serenity of the heavenly court, full of joy and peace, and all the turmoil and fear on Earth. Then, when the time comes, God acts, and it’s over. It’s why I don’t worry in particular about the end times: if you are faithful, you will be ready; if not, you will never be ready.
