Ah, the Town Crier.-The same guy who handed out tobacco lobbyists checks to other Republicans on the House floor .-Supposedly, Republicans support keeping the tax cuts for the middle class. So why doesn’t the House vote on the Senate bill that accomplishes that?-Could it possibly be — that Republicans don’t give a whit about the middle class? Espcially the NO brainer?-It’s also good to remember that when Boehner talks about ‘protecting small business’, he’s talking about ‘small’ as defined only by the tax code. Those are hedge funds, doctors partnerships, Bain Capital, Bechtel, and especially Koch Industries..

The tax will hit certain places hard, like NYC, Chicago and SF where $200,000 a year is a solid middle class income but a far cry from wealthy. But these are all deep blue places and in all likelihood, many of the $200k+ taxpayers support it. It’s a marginal rate after all.

The party of no has to go. I’ve never seen such outcry over protecting those most able to pay a higher percentage in taxes. When war against Iraq was declared with no means to pay for it who did the GOP expect to pick up the tab ? Then you add in the Bush tax cuts the deficit explodes & now the Democrats get blamed for not getting it under control. The can can’t be kicked any further & sacrifice by all will be required to get our fiscal house back in order.

    Speaking of incorrect—-

    “Taxes”—-That would be plural, Howie.

Brush up on your high school grammar lessons, Mrs. Ima.

    “…taxes forthcoming….ARE enough…”

    Good grief! [“Sigh”….“Yawn”…]

josefw, I just read the 18 new taxes on the link you provided. Few of them apply to individuals making under $250K/year, and one of them (#9) actually reduces taxes by raising the amount one can deduct for medical expenses. Most of these 18 items apply to insurance companies and employers.

Here is why I am for Obamacare- I work for a small company and we must pay much higher health insurance premiums than employees at larger companies pay. Under Obamacare, we will be able to buy health insurance at the “group rate”. The federal government will not be subsidizing ouir insurance. We will just be getting the same discount others are getting. (In other words, the insurance companies won’t be able to overcharge us just because we work for a small company.) What’s wrong with that?

No, he doesn’t want the fiscal cliff to happen, but right now, he’s in the position of power. The taxes will expire, regardless, at the beginning of the year, and not just on the tax rate. Capital gains and inheritance taxes will also rise, which don’t affect the average taxpayer. He’s already put on the table a plan to raise taxes only on the top 2%, but the Reptilians don’t want that. Either way, Obama wins.

Listening to the excuses of the people who are arguing against the increase in taxes for the 2% reminds me of the folk tale of the old woman who found something to worry about even when good things happened to her. Next they’ll join the NRA in arguing that Obama not trying to take their weapons is a plot to take their weapons.

He doesn’t have a yes in there at all. He will risk the whole Nation for a game of politics. Obama isn’t being political, he is trying to make improvements. Looks like our do less than nothing congress is willing to let the American poor have not chance to work their way up and out of poverty, not going to let middle class have enough money to fix the economy.I used to think all the buying of stuff was what’s wrong but now I see past that, we have to have people able to buy stuff to make the economy grow. Some people still think that Obama eliminate the work requirement. This is a lie! He beefed it up if anything!

Problem is if the GOP sits on it’s collective hands and let’s the US fall off the fiscal cliff, not only will taxes will go up – after the so called Bush tax cuts expire – but spending will go up as well and the debt will spiral ever upwards. So, go ahead GOP, sit on you hands!

The irony of all this is the same people who are saying it’s all an evil plot by Obama are the same ones who think the world will end in December.
