    Some newspapers run comic strips only on Sundays. As a courtesy to them, most strips avoid referring to weekday storylines on Sunday. Otherwise, readers would get very confused.

    There are a few strips (Alley Oop, for example) that use Sundays to recap what happened during the previous week. That makes things easy for the writer, but it forces people who follow the strips seven days a week to read the same events twice.
