You do realize people have been saying this for fifty years? So much so that in ’65 Schultz was compelled to make the Charlie Brown Christmas special? Maybe Christmas is pretty much the way it has always been, in the modern era. Complaining about it is as much a part of the tradition as the mistletoe and colored lights.

I always look forward most to seeing my niece, who lives five hours away, the good food (some of which I make), and the gifts my mother and sister have MADE for me.This year, my dad has been very ill with heart issues, so Mom just isn’t into the spirit of the seson. All the same, I look forward to the day itself.

Being not able to give makes me a little blue. Talking with people I like and remembering some of the Christmas memories. All kids of all generations are shallow. If they weren’t no one would get the joke. Don’t worry about it.
