I almost always multitask when Skype-ing. And when my college son and I chat, I can always hear the keys going in the background on his side.
This way Betty can claim this conversation is work related. After all Alex does represent one of the clients.
You can also research things while talking without seeming rude. ;-)

The image on Betty’s laptop is in 3-D! The rest of us would see Alex’s face looking straight out of the screen, whatever the viewing angle.
And how many times have they had lunch together and Alex would be talking on her phone?
