Who gets the blame for the disruptive hostile students that do nothing and will be nothing?

It’s been said that the most important thing in child-rearing is consistancy. I know some parents whom I’d consider lax, but they’re consistant about the boundaries they do set, and it shows.

I got hit once with a meter-stick. I was totally innocent. I was bullied a bit and took it because I didn’t want to be labeled a troublemaker. Finally the same teacher saw what was going on and said, “You have my permission to hit him over the head with your chair if he does it again.” I removed my books from the under-chair shelf and put them on the floor. I never had any trouble again.

What gets me is those teachers (and I’ve run into them) who think their students are their own kids. A friend of mine encountered such a teacher at a conference; when she said, “He’s my son, too,” my friend exploded all over her. (Yes, it was messy; but not literally.)

The only ones to show up in a suit at this school are the cops and the funeral director coming from work.
