“All those drones exist in large numbers because the corporations that own the politicians make the expensive drones in large numbers and expect to sell them at great profit.”And give jobs to “retiring” high ranking military and political leaders as an incentive for said leaders to continue buying military equipment regardless of it’s quality or necessity.Beware of the military industrial complex.

If Dubya hadn’t stared all these wars the drones would not be needed.

Have you checked the stats on things like the Raid on Cologne or Hiroshima or even the results of Sherman’s March? I applaud your humanity, but it dissipates quickly in a war.

Exactly right. The whole ‘why do democrats hate America’ nonsense. As the administration was torturing people.

While I hate the use of armed drones without “on the ground intelligence” that is ACCURATE, they are better at getting “bad guys” than carpet bombing whole nations, as “W” did. Even his dad screwed the pooch in Panama, just as Reagan did in Grenada. All these little international “transgressions” add up to the “Why do they hate us” syndrome. At least Obama IS targeting the folks who targeted us FIRST for a huge change in policy. But, the best policy is “you leave us alone, we leave you alone”, from BOTH sides.

BTW, the massive build up in drone development and purchasing by MANY COUNTRIES, does NOT bode well for future “risk assessments”, if the risk to aggressor forces is reduced.

^I watched the videos of the B-52 strikes in Afghanistan, know what carpet bombing is from experience elsewhere. Iraq cruise attacks were only slightly less so in Baghdad, and outside that city, things got a lot messier, and more “random”…

Drones CAN be more effective, but at $68,000 per “Hellfire”, pretty costly all the same.

Sort of like the Chinese proverb: a picture is worth a 1000 words. Here it’s: a drone is worth a 1000 boots on the ground!
