looks kinda creepy, the dude won’t let go of her hand long enough so she can call her family? red flag!— this could be a possessive disorder leading to abuse
hm, that sounded negative and preachy, didn’t it?
did I ever tell you about the job I once had in Tulsa?

The hand holding is carried over from yesterday’s tease - as a device just to show Grandma’s special friend. Perhaps this trip we’ll learn more about him… or am I being too nosy like her daughter?

I am beginning to wonder just how many of “us” are from Tulsa..seems a bunch. Just like most of the people at the lake seem to be from Houston…me inluded in both fronts.
so’k, nighthawks - they just don’t have that much time together….

Um, nighthawks, I think the hand holding is shorthand in cartoon visual language for “in a relationship”, that she’s with somebody at the moment, romantically. Hints at sexytimes for a G rated strip. Not controlling possessiveness. Even. Isn’t grandma quite a bit older than he (presuming heterosexuality) is? She is the dominant one in the relationship.

Hey Grandma, it also works if you scratch the phone with your nails. LOL!

No one’s being nosy. Why else would we read it if we didn’t care?

@lewreader, she already did “that” at least twice before, and why should she lose interest as she gets older?
As for me, I like the way he is gradually being revealed, a bit at a time. Yesterday all we saw was his hand, indicating their relationship, and now we see a little bit more of him as an individual person. And incidentally, @jane doe, why assume that she’s the older one and the dominant one in the relationship? Is it just because you are so used to seeing all the females in this comic strip as strong? (which they are)
