Those are participation trophies, usually small generic trophies with plaques saying something like "played soccer (member of team name) – fall season 20XX.
They are not the same as trophies given for recognition of merit.
Participation trophies have their use, especially as encouragement for players like Bailey.
Other sports issue patches instead of trophies.

should be 3 trophies for top three players and if the team wins championship, one large trophy that the team enjoys.

I think Dr. Lou knows that, but not everyone agrees with the practice of giving participation trophies.
