Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, they all have such unChristian weird ceremonies, restrictions, laws, and demonstrations of faith…

He turned down the anti-venom because he thought praying to God would be a better medicine. Then he died, completely predictably. The problem is not him — he’s dead now — but that people take the same attitude about actual facts that affect the world. Take your lesson from this guy, it’ll save you having to learn this lesson yourself.

I thought snakes represented the devil.
Snake venom makes your blood less liquid.

To me, a bizarre church is one that preaches hate under the guise of love. West-Hateful Baptist is one that comes to mind: small children, who have no concept of sexuality, screaming hate and carrying signs saying that “God hates Fags”.

“In the name of God, we allow them to be fools.”

Substitute bamboo vipers for rattlers, much faster, and more positive results. (Hemotoxins aren’t as dangerous as neurotoxins.)

He must have forgotten the part where Jesus says “Thou shalt not tempt the LORD thy GOD.”

Yes, forgotten, or also possible simply ignored along with a number of other things found in the bible.

“Bizarre” is the right word. “Church” might be a stretch since this insane activity bears no resemblance to anything practiced by the church during nearly all of its first two millennia. The people drawn to these sectarian cults (actually, quite few in number) need to be educated (biblically, and rationally).
