Obama kept his promise to do something and the GOP kept their promise to do nothing…

The best way to deal with a hostage situation is to pay whatever ransom is demanded. That way, the hostage takers will be satisfied and won’t take the same hostage again. At least, not until the debt ceiling comes up later.

Note the posts, the toon represents exactly what they expect US to believe.
    .
But at this point, after shutting down the government, they can’t come away with nothing.
    .
The republicans fully intend to make this worse for themselves. Maybe keep the shutdown going until elections themselves come up?
It is over except for the suffering.

It is not over yet. After the incurred debt is defaulted on, then, then the carnage begins in earnest.

Ah yes, but that is a carnage that would even affect the wealthy on Wall Street. And then something will be done about it, as the true masters of the US Congress (yes, both parties) will then get involved!!

Tasteless. Apologies to the family of Daniel Berg. You should be ashamed.

A home-grown insurgency, comprised of fanatics for whom all tactics are valid, all rules are void, and all collateral damage is acceptable in their quest to destroy the enemy and institute their ideology as the law of the land.

Harry Reid shut down government. He’s the one who refused to negotiate.
    .
What does it take for you to understand that here is nothing to “negotiate” – the ACA is law and has nothing to do with continuing to fund obligations that have already been passed by the legislature.
    .
Regardless, the Democrats offered 17 times since last April to go into conference with the House about the ACA, and Boehner refused to bring it to the floor. And then on September 30th, the Republicans whined that the Democrats wouldn’t “sit down and talk about it.” Rank hypocrisy.

You mean the guy who got a conservative health care plan passed despite his own party’s wailing that he was abandoning them by taking single payer off the table? If you don’t know that Obamacare is a conservative plan, cooked up by the Heritage Foundation, then you are more interested in taking partisan potshots than looking at the facts.

Also, Obama is not acting like a king, he’s acting like a president, following proper governmental procedure. It’s Boehner who’s acting like “the omnipotent” by telling everyone that democracy and governmental procedure (as outlined by the constitution) is irrelevant when it comes to his personal wishes. You’ve got it backwards, my friend.
