I do like Mr. Asay’s artwork.
While many minds are already made up on all of these issues, mine is not.
The IRS story needs to end with someone going to jail. We need to know the name of the person who set the parameters for the forms to be investigated and totally inappropriate questions that were asked.
The AP story is not as bad ‘legally’, but for our freedoms’ sake, may be the most threatening. Sources are drying up and people are less willing to talk to reporters. The media is bad enough as it is, if they lose viable sources, it will only make it worse.
Benghazi is aggravating to many conservatives, but the more I read, the more I see this incident as a tragedy that was used for political gain and NOT by the administration. I’m still waiting for more info tho.
I don’t think Mr. Obama is a crook yet.
I don’t KNOW that he is not.
He certainly is not a Nixon.
    He’s not tricky enough.
    Respectfully,
    C.

I’m not convinced that there are any scandals here that touch President Obama. No one has linked the IRS scandal to Obama. There is a good argument that the subpoenas of the AP phone logs was legal and justifiable. (See the link I posted yesterday from the New York Times.) And I agree with you that Benghazi was a tragedy, but I have yet to see any scandal. I think the Republicans are desperately trying to pin something on Obama, just the way they tried to pin something on Clinton. I am happy to consider new evidence, if there is any. I’m not a Democrat; I’ve opposed Democrats before, and I am willing to oppose Obama when I disagree with him — as I disagree with his use of drones — but these “scandals” so far reflect badly on the Republicans, not on Obama.

The Obamanation is far worse than that. A crook? Try liar, murderer of children, destroyer of the family…take your pick.

I have tried to look these things up, could not find any details. Please provide references, particularly to item 2 and 3 of your statement.

“He is from Chicago….that takes care of the first one, the second, he supports late term abortions lastly he supports the death tax that destroys the family farm.”
In that case, you are wrong on every point.

    No Obama Death Panels?
    -
BTW, Watergate was not limited to the one burglary. The articles of impeachment for Nixon filled five volumes. One congressman, during the hearings, picked up the volumes and dropped them from a height of six inches. The sound echoed in the chamber.
    -
BTW, Liddy, Hunt, and the rest of the Plumbers were not just people that Nixon had just met.

“He is from Chicago….that takes care of the first one,”

    - People from Chicago might have a thing or two to say about that.

“the second, he supports late term abortions”

    - No, he supports keeping them Safe Legal and Rare, I don’t think he supports the procedure itself.

“lastly he supports the death tax that destroys the family farm.”

    - There’s no such thing as a “death tax,” I’m yet to hear just what use dead people have for money. You might be thinking of the Paris Hilton Tax.

If some in congress get their way the IRS will only check democratic nonprofit orgs, not all, as they should. I guess it would be a good time for any business family farm ect that does not make a profit to get a tax free status as the IRS will not have a section to check you.

Always good to read your thoughts Lonecat.
I agree with your comment in its entirety. The jury is out on nearly all of the topics we are discussing, but I don’t think Mr. Obama is guilty of anything except perhaps willful ignorance. Unlike many on GC, I’m willing to wait for the ‘jury’ to give its verdict on these issues. And like you, will be happy to consider new evidence as it appears.
Always good to read your writings, Lonecat. Be well.

Regarding the “death tax” and the family farm:

The law that Republicans object to so vigorously allows the first $1.3 million that you inherit to be exempt from the estate tax. IF you inherit a family farm, that exemption doubles to $2.6 million.

So, that means that, if you inherit a family farm, you don’t pay ANY estate tax unless its value is more than 2 and 1/2 million dollars. Anything above that is taxed, but not as high as income.

I’m sorry; I don’t see a problem with that one. And I am unfamiliar with anyone losing a family farm because they could not afford the estate tax. There are certainly other reasons for losing the farm, like the feds allowing agribusiness to graze their cattle for much less than mom and pop have to pay to rent grazing land. But I know of no instance where the tax itself has caused anyone to lose the farm.

This is one more example of political parties making up a crisis to take our minds off the really important issues of our time. It’s helpful for them that we are so willing to jump on “our side” against “them”. So much easier than doing their jobs…..
