    The burglars nearly always come when you are out. The nutcase with a knife attacks without warning in a crowded street. Even if you could draw a handgun, they are not that accurate and it is a crowded street into which he has already disappeared. These are not imaginary scenarios. I know the victims and/or their friends.

    Why aren’t they listening to DHS like good sheep and grabbing scissors?

    Saul replied, “Say to David, ‘The king wants no other price for the bride than a hundred Philistine foreskins, to take revenge on his enemies.’” Saul’s plan was to have David fall by the hands of the Philistines.

    When the attendants told David these things, he was pleased to become the king’s son-in-law. So before the alloted time elapsed, David took his men with him and went out and killed two hundred Philistines and brought back their foreskins. They counted out the full number to the king so that David might become the king’s son-in-law. Then Saul gave him his daughter Michal in marriage.

    You are simply vile Chuck. This is totally beneath you and anyone else claiming to be a human being. Like Ms. Trotter’s imaginary female fighting off an imaginary five thugs with her children screaming behind her, you dream up narratives that never if rarely ever happen and then enact dangerous policy to prevent your imagination. School shootings don’t happen that often. And more than likely, a curious child would find that teacher’s gun during a regular school day and hurt either themself or others by accident. These are way too simple solutions to very, very complex problems.

    @Ms. Ima

    Nope, liberal kids afraid of conservatives whose solution to whatever problem is let’s kill someone.

    Probably that the kids should have prayed to the government for more regulations…

    It is amazing that after the death of Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield the pro-gun crowd still does not notice any flaws in their attitude.

    Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield would have been safe if only there had been an armed teacher there.

    So to the conservatives, who during the recent teachers’ strikes complained that teachers were overpaid shills of the unions; are you ready to arm the people you reviled last year? Get ready to bow down to every union demand they have, because they have a gun in the room with your children. I would think the last person you would want armed is the one you just told to either take the pay cut, benefit cut, increased classroom size, or take a walk. Teaching is a high stress job with little reward. Give the teachers guns and what happens when the first one locks themselves in a classroom and threatens to kill children because of a particularly nasty dispute about paycuts and benefits?

    Too much negativity about teacher packing a gun. Think of the potential for enforcing discipline in the classroom.

    Take a break Doc and read these “lies”.

    No, I DO NOT advocate that a 6 year old be encouraged to use a gun to fire indiscriminately around the room. What I DO advocate is that parents teach their small children about guns, take them to the local range, teach them how to fire a pistol and a rifle. Teach them how to safely use that tool for the proper reason at the proper time.

    Is 6 to young? Well, I was hunting and bringing home game for the table by age 12 but I had been shooting targets under the supervision of my parents for a few years before that, so maybe 6 is too young to expect much more than hide and keep quiet. But should they encounter a gun in a teachers purse (why are they looking in there again?) Would you think some prior knowledge and some basic safety instruction may be a good thing?

    And all the while I wonder how it is we do not have security good enough to prevent these types of people from walking onto school grounds armed with rifles and shotguns and pistols, dressed in camo with a glazed killer expression on their faces. Is NO ONE looking out?

    Actually that is the principal shooting at Mrs. Jones because they had a disagreement. Teacher’s purses must be locked up here because too many were being stolen by students.

    “Even if you could draw a handgun, they are not that accurate and it is a crowded street into which he has already disappeared. These are not imaginary scenarios.”

    What do you mean? I see exactly that scenario constantly on the cop shows on TV and they always get their man and never hit innocent bystanders. You obviously don’t live in Southern California. We have regular “home invasion” incidents where not only are the people home but innocently open the door to their assailants thinking they are people in trouble that need to use the phone, or there’s an accident or whatever. People were not only robbed but often raped and murdered. They were happening with increasing frequency until one of the home invasion group was shot and killed by the homeowner and his accomplish disappeared, never to be heard from again. It’s a dangerous world out there…
