   The burglars nearly always come when you are out. The nutcase with a knife attacks without warning in a crowded street. Even if you could draw a handgun, they are not that accurate and it is a crowded street into which he has already disappeared. These are not imaginary scenarios. I know the victims and/or their friends.

   You are simply vile Chuck. This is totally beneath you and anyone else claiming to be a human being. Like Ms. Trotter’s imaginary female fighting off an imaginary five thugs with her children screaming behind her, you dream up narratives that never if rarely ever happen and then enact dangerous policy to prevent your imagination. School shootings don’t happen that often. And more than likely, a curious child would find that teacher’s gun during a regular school day and hurt either themself or others by accident. These are way too simple solutions to very, very complex problems.

    Oh, GOOD idea; put guns in the hands of terrified and freaked-out six-year-olds and encourage them to start firing indiscriminantly around classrooms. THAT will be our best defense against the nuts with guns.

    So to the conservatives, who during the recent teachers’ strikes complained that teachers were overpaid shills of the unions; are you ready to arm the people you reviled last year? Get ready to bow down to every union demand they have, because they have a gun in the room with your children. I would think the last person you would want armed is the one you just told to either take the pay cut, benefit cut, increased classroom size, or take a walk. Teaching is a high stress job with little reward. Give the teachers guns and what happens when the first one locks themselves in a classroom and threatens to kill children because of a particularly nasty dispute about paycuts and benefits?

    PS It’s working, Liberals everywhere are terrified and are willing to give up Constitutional rights (something you admit ignorance of but are willing to argue for) and freedoms for more governmental control.
