Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

Are those guns protecting the president? Isn’t that a double standard, guns for me and none for thee?

Guns don’t protect people. People protect people.

People with guns protect people! People with their “own” guns protect themselves.

What a load of unmitigated crap! The Republicans don’t give a flying flip about deficit spending or the national debt. The second a Republican is voted into the White House they’ll forget all about it and deficits will no longer matter.

You’re correct, but Conservatives and the Tea Party do.

Too late, Bush II already maxed out the nations credit card. We’re now stuck paying the interest & because debt isn’t getting paid down quickly enough the debt ceiling needs to be raised yet again or else the US is in default.

“Obama inherited a mess he’s incompetent to fix, so we’ll deflect attention by continuing to blame someone else.”

Thank you my brother. Obviously Jase99 is just fine with a liberal doing exactly the same thing he complained about a republican doing but does not see the hypocrisy in that.
Remember when Obama called Bush “unpatriotic” for running a 450 billion dollar deficit?

Somebody needs to read the Constitution. CONGRESS appropriates ALL expenditures. The President can only approve or veto the budget provided by Congress.
The debt ceiling is nothing more than Congress raising the self imposed spending limit to match the spending they themselves have already authorized.

Asay’s talking about the Credit Card Bush the Lesser used, right? Remember, the 10 Trillion Dollar overdraft?

Cage of Freedom- “We’re the prisoner and jailer combined.”
There is too much blame to go around. At first, it looks like a major jab at the President, but is that a tricorner hat in the background of the first frame? And all the police elephants look terrified. It also looks like the line of guards outside of the fence include some with tusks and trunks.
Are the military vehicles there to defend the President, or do they represent a group the republicans don’t want to upset?
Are the guard towers to defend the white house, or do they represent the fence and guard posts Republicans have wanted to put on the border with Mexico?
Ness and Malone also seem to reluctant to force a very small number of ‘officers’ to face an overwhelming number of people opposed to his goals, especially if cameras of the media are on them.
The sign announcing the Chicago Gang in Charge shows this cartoon slants strongly to the right, however….
I really like Mr. Asay’s art. I also find myself enjoying this cartoon when I look at it with my head tilted a little to the left.
It also reminds me of Doonesbury’s art during the second administration of Nixon. The White House was always shown as an armed camp with a high brick wall around it. Wish I could have found an image link, my books are boxed up on the attic.
Respectfully,
C.
