Chuck Asay sifts the events of the day through his biblical worldview and tries to persuade readers to see things his way...that rights are given by a higher authority than the governments of men, that mankind is not the ultimate arbiter of truth and that our Constitutional Republic is worth protecting. Chuck believes ideas, not politicians rule the world. He tries to protect ideas which he thinks are good and attacks ideas he thinks bring harm.

So far, it seems that the appropriate action was taken by the State Department. I don’t see where they can find any actual criminal negligence.

It looks like mistakes were made but nobody made them.

One undersecretary and three undersecretaries are history. That went a lot higher up the bureaucratic ladder than I thought. Definite negligence on their part, but, from what I’ve seen, it didn’t go to the level of criminal negligence.

Gee, where are the hearings for everyone in the Bush administration that fabricated “intelligence” to invade Iraq, and would provide some 5,000+ portraits on the wall?
Benghazi was an error that Stevens himself was as responsible for as much as anyone, by disregarding the advice of the Libyans, get over it.

Such remarkable courage on Hillary’s part. Let those who serve you take the heat for you, while you take a powder.

I believe she will be there, on a stretcher if necessary. She will not let her reputation as the toughest woman in Washington be tarnished. And she also will not cower in front of the committee. If they attack her she will shoot right back. Let the games begin!

The possible, do now. The difficult, do tomorrow. The impossible we’ll get to next year. Ms. Clinton will one day appear before this committee. Failure to report can result in a contempt charge, not something a future Pres. candidate wants on tv ads. Where is the intelligent focus on the self inflicted wound called the fiscal cliff?
Reports say a minority of republicans would support a bill, but Boehnor will not push through a bill without a “majority of the majority”. Sadly, this political tactic has apparently been used by Reps/Dems alike for decades. Reps are apparently willing to let sequestration to occur since agreeing to the President’s terms at that time will amount to a tax cut in response to the increases automatically taking place. That will also enable to say on their upcoming tv ads starting in late 2013, they kept their promises. The Dems reason for “letting” us go over the cliff seems to be twofold- they feel since they gave Boehnor 98% of what he wanted in 2010 in those negotiations they have already made many concessions and have made more. Secondly, they believe Republicans will be blamed for this stupidity and will Dems will gain seats in 2014.
One issue for which I’ve called my legislators is the subject of amendments/attachments/riders/earmarks/BS for which reps and senators alike are trying to attach to a bill that is supposed to keep our financial credibility alive without causing us to fall back into recession. I will look very unfavorably of any politicians trying to put pork in a bill this important.
Ms. Clinton will appear and if she does well, she may be the first woman president, if she does poorly, she’ll do well with books and on the lecture circuit or teach at an upper crust university. The money that was being held, for whatever reason, is being distributed and I heard a report of 800 marines being added to diplomatic security. Things are getting done, and we can beat up on bureaucrats like pinatas at our leisure. For now, let’s encourage our leaders to save a nation.
Yours…Mine…Ours.
Respectfully,
& Have a safe Happy New Year Eve,
C.

Is that the commission investigating the 9/11 WTC attacks and the total failure of the Bush admin to stop them? Oh, it’s that stupid Benghazi thing.
And you guys wonder why you lost the election.

I guess the House turning down the additional money for Embassy security had nothing to do with it?
