The first thing fascists do is take away guns from citizens.

I’m sure glad they didn’t take the guns away from whoever shot into my house and killed a deer 75 feet from my house the other night.

Can you find a single Democrat who wants to take away all your guns? Thought not. What a Fox-News-world cartoon. If you want a scary TRUE story about the NRA, see Linda Greenhouse’s column today in the New York Times.

“Can you find a single Democrat who wants to take away all your guns?” Yes, his name is Bloomberg. You know the guy, the one that lives in a walled compound, protected by lots of guys carrying (do I dare say it?) GUNS.

What on earth are you talking about? They’re infesting these pages like flies on a deer carcass!

Bloomberg isn’t a Democrat for the 100th time.

nothin’ wrong with owning a gun…kinda stupid to think it will
protect you though, when some nut with murder on his mind breaks in with 30 rounds and starts spraying

No Rocky, he is an independent who was a republican from 2001 – 2007 (gee which party had the WH?) and he was originally a democrat from when he got into politics until 2001. So what does that make him? A billionaire (25 billion net worth) who is a “fair-weather” politician.

But wait, don’t politicians who turn independent usually caucus with the democrats? Like your good buddy Crist.

And thankfully, we in NYC have the lowest murder rate since the early sixties. You gun worshippers can keep your guns. Just keep ’em out of our safe city.

    Rosie O’Donnell.

    []
After Columbine, Rosie publicly declared that she feels everyone in America who owns a weapon as a private citizen needs to be arrested and thrown in jail. As part of it, when Tom Selleck appeared on her show to promote a new movie she blasted him over his having done ads for the NRA.
    []
However, she has no problems whatsoever with hiring armed security guards to keep her and her family safe, and even got into a spat with the private school her kids were attending because she wanted the right to have an armed bodyguard following her kids even when they were on-campus.

Can we say “limousine liberal”, peeps?

Gun Grabbers? You mean those people who want to put limits on automatic weapons and large clips so that another twenty children won’t be killed? More gun nut paranoia from the far right.

I have seen a few posters here say that there should be no guns at all in the hands of private citizens. A few. But I have also seen the majority of left/liberal posters say that they do not want to confiscate all the guns. Several of the left/liberal posters own guns. Personally, speaking from the left, I have no objection to the use of guns for hunting — I don’t have any interest in hunting, but if other people want to, I say let them — and I have no problem with target practice. Weapons in the home for protection — well, I don’t have a set opinion at this point. I’d like to see some statistics. How many armed home invasions are there? How many times have the owners of the homes owned guns? How often have they been able to use them to protect themselves? How many times have the guns been involved in accidents, suicides, or homicides within the family? I don’t know any of these numbers, and before I make up my mind, I’d like some information.

Something I didn’t know until about 2 years ago:
If you have a gun and want to sell it you don’t have to do a background check.
I sold my shotgun to my neice’s boyfriend and that is what I found out when researching how to do it.
It is the so-called gun show loophole. Even though closing that loophole would not have prevented any of the crimes in the National news recently, it still makes me wonder if this is where the guns used in drive by shootings come from.
So I took the money from the shotgun sale and bought a Ruger .22 stainless steel rifle and had to fill out the multi page form and wait for UPS to deliver to the dealer, then go back and pick it up.
    See the difference?

In California all sales, public and private, gun shows etc, have to go through the background checks and private sales are reported through dealers who then hold the guns involved in the sale until the “DROS” paperwork clears, all subject to 1o day waiting period…

Automatic weapons are already classified as class III firearms and have been strictly controlled since 1934. The ONLY class III firearm to be used in a homicide was one owned by a policeman who came home early, found his wife in bed with another man and returned to the patrol car to retrieve the weapon and kill them.

Radish, it would be helpful to the debate if you knew something about the subject. You might as well be complaining about all the machine guns and bomb racks mounted on civilian airplanes for all the good condemning automatic weapons does you,
