Asay has a strange sense of morality. (Or is that no sense)

Yes, that’s why people who didn’t vote for Romney did it: They didn’t want to vote for morals… Amazing that Mr. Asay has convinced himself of this.

It’s hard to know why a majority of voters selected Obama. They obviously don’t care about raging debt. They don’t care about the military or embassy assassinations. They must thing he is doing something right to fix our dire economy, but I think they’re hard pressed to say exactly what he is doing right. It seems to me that they’re mostly still made at the Bush administration and want to keep blaming someone who hasn’t been in office for four years. Most of all, I think Obama voters are so wrapped up in their own lives that they don’t pay attention to the nation as a whole. They just want their own selfish little lives to continue with free gimmes from a government run by corrupt officials who steal from column A to give to column B in exchange for votes.

The Free Riders were heard from in this election.
No responsibility. No accountability. No self discipline.
Next, they will repeal the 10 Commandments so they can be FREE of guilt.
It is the Other Person’s Fault. Let’s spend Other People’s Money. Postpone the Fiscal Cliff of ‘Spend within your income’ & ‘Return to normal tax rates’.

The trouble with right wingers is they always claim the high moral ground. They think they’re superior to the left & feel it’s their God given right to be elected. What a load of malarkey.

Looks like the conservative’s morals are killing them off!

What morals does Sheldon Adelson have? How about the Koch brothers? It seems to me they have the best morals money can buy. One doesn’t get that rich by having morals.

    Where to begin?

@hanmari: I voted for Obama. I am not at all happy with many aspects of his administration, but Mr. Romney convinced me he was a much poorer choice, and I will expound on this shortly.

@fuzzythinker: I am not a Free Rider. I have a good job as an owner/practitioner of a healthy optometry practice, and I have certainly seen the health care system’s faults more clearly and more constantly than most posters here. I have responsibility: here’s a good one…I’m typing during my lunch time because I did not remember to bring money with me, so I will wait until dinner to eat. Same for accountability and self-discipline. I have been in the position of having to not pay myself in order to ensure that my staff and my suppliers are paid on time. I rarely take vacations, and when I am not at work, I am still working on something.

So all of you can stop making assumptions.

Here’s the deal: Romney wants to build up the Navy and wants to go to war. He has no ideas as to how to pay for this. He wants to give tax cuts in the mistaken belief that you can pay down your debt by reducing your income. He’s been running for president for 5 years; he states he’s unemployed, so he had the time to research the answers to questions like “how do you intend to pay for it?”, yet he didn’t have them.

Romney stated in his first debate that his plan for health care covered individuals with pre-existing conditions. Of course that was just after he said his plan was for the states to decide. So, another flip-flop. All politicians do this; most do not do so within the same breath.

Romney stated health care provided by hospital emergency rooms are free. Can you spell “out of touch”?

How much time, money, and resources were spent locally, state-wide, and federally to scuttle Obamacare? No one knows for sure, but I think we can agree on “a lot”. Now, if this is done state by state…..multiply that number by 50. Tell me how this will be cheaper or easier or even better.

Romney/Ryan wanted to make Medicare into a voucher program. How many seniors do not present with a pre-existing condition? I am amazingly healthy, do not smoke, watch my diet and exercise, yet my health insurance, even with high deductible, is over $600 per month just for me. If the government would hand me $6K and tell me to go look for private insurance when I turn 65, I probably won’t be able to afford the balance. Now, what if I had a pre-existing condition?

And, I see how insurance companies work. If they see you getting a $100 stipend to help you pay your insurance, what’s to stop them from charging an extra $100 in premiums?

So, seniors will end up in emergency rooms, which will cost much much more than Medicare ever will.

So will Medicaid recipients. When Medicaid is turned into a block grant, Medicaid funds will be appropriated elsewhere, as all states are broke. We can argue all day over whether Medicaid is good or not, but what cannot be argued is that a lot of people will lose coverage that they have learned to expect. And they will also present at emergency rooms when they get sick. Hey, the president told them it was free.

Romney gets a $77K tax write-off for dance lessons for his horse, and he blames food-stamp recipients for wanting free stuff from the government.

Morals? My training and belief is that war is immoral. I don’t think we should be spending hundreds of billions on wars, especially wars with no real reason behind them. GWB will always be known for how he bankrupted the US (how much did it cost to build the Department of Homeland Security? Don’t know; never will. It’s a f**kload. He’s not here, he’s not now, but the money and the lives are spent, and this is fact.

And as to “free birth control”: you want to eliminate abortion? Make it easy to access birth control. How idiotic is it to preach abstinence and keep people away from birth control, and then decry the fact that women want abortions?

And one last visit to morality: According to Genesis, God made Adam and Eve (not Adam and Steve!). They had two sons; no daughters were mentioned. Where did the rest of the human race come from? And what deity in its right mind would provide a tree of knowledge and then forbid its creatures to learn? And then punish them for wanting to know?

So a lot of us held our noses and voted Obama. The only qualification Mitt Romney had was that he was not Obama. Neither am I; neither, I’m guessing, are you. Not enough to sway me. Provide a better alternative, and you have my vote. Until you do, though, don’t blame me for not thinking the way you don’t.

Massey Energy president lays out the rules for Romney and Asay “morality”: kill your employees by ignoring safety regulations, line the survivors up without pay to testify for Romney, then fire them when Romney loses.

With “perspective” on “morality” as well: While it was tragic that we lost four people in Benghazi, how many in the media have pointed out over 30 people were rescued and protected? How many have attacked Petraeus because of some twit named Kelley who contacted an FBI agent (who’s being kept secret and protected) to settle her “score” for some emails she didn’t like. Now another honorable man who devoted his life to serving our troops, and nation, is on the line in a campaign out of “Kardasian lite journalism”?

Yes, I think there IS some question about Mr. Asay, and what the “religious right” controlling the “idiot right” consider “biblical worldview” and “morals”.

Sorry but I see no moral compass on either side…one thinks about their rich friends and keeping them rich and the other side wants to give out money to those who don’t want to work for it and people like me are stuck in the middle…working hard to pay for both sides. Give me somebody who thinks about the middle class!!
