There was time when the American hobbyist could access the parts (Radio Shack, surplus stores, etc) to stay ahead of the industry with new innovative ideas. Now that marketing has replaced technology we’re looking at a 2 year, planned obsolescence cycle being morphed into a one year cycle and prohibitions against repairing a device.
