Fascinating, sometimes, how this guy can churn out the “socialist” slime on any toon. You conservatives are lucky to have such a talented smear monger.

Yeah. and all of those nasty socialist countries of Northern Europe. Where the people are the happiest on the Earth. What a terrible concept socialism must be. Imagine a government that actually helps to take care of its large middle class, and not just the wealthy. Although the wealthy of Europe are doing just fine also! Although I must admit with people like Overtaxed here, we are lucky to have any kind of government that does anything for the people itself!!

Uh, just a note: it is because these guys are being PAID as in full-ride scholarships to play basketball (not study so much) that they’re being considered EMPLOYEES. It seems a pretty valid assessment, and has been so in all these “amateur” sports, for a long time. The NCAA enforcement is a joke. BTW: in over 40 states, the highest paid public employees are football (mostly) or basketball coaches, paid more than college chancellors, or governors!

Oh, no! Young men banding together to improve THEIR lives instead of the ‘managers’ at NCAA, Inc. This can’t be allowed; it can’t even be talked about. Quick, RepubliCons, to the Rush Fox barricades!

At least the coaches and various college staff members that make their money off of the collegiate sports system don’t want it to happen. I’d rather see those players focus on getting an education.

what happened to the idea that we the people take care of our needy? not the government which can’t run one successful department that isn’t constantly in the red ie post office or spending $700 for toilet seats. nothing the government does is done well. as for Europe not being able to work more than 28 hrs a week because the tax on income jumps up so high they would be working for nothing, yeah sound great. and haveing half the freedom and liberties we have here that is just wonderful.. hey if being in a nanny state is what you think is great that by all means go find one. leave America to us terrible self reliant bastards that built the greatest nation in the world and dragged the rest of the world kicking and screaming into the modern age.

You say this now until They decide to strike until they are paid on top of their Scholarship
    .
That is not at all what they are asking for. They are asking that their scholarships, which are renewed on an annual basis, be guaranteed if they are injured during training or on the field of play. They are asking for better health insurance to defray costs of long-term injuries. They are asking for more time to spend on their studies. These are reasonable demands, and the players were being threatened with expulsion for merely asking to be heard.
    .
We all know you and other conservatives are automatically anti-union, because you think they destroy established business (in this case, schools). But before you build up your straw man conclusion about the demise of sports as we know it, think about some of the legitimate requests that are being made.
