One desperate, failing dictator took a chance on the Falklands and revived the career of another failing, desperate dictator. Such is the life of “leaders.”

Oh come on, people! Don’t be so harsh on the Royal Navy. What remained of it, by the 80s. The rusting hulks. The fact they had to recruit a cruise-ship as troop transporter. The fact that the torpedoes that sunk that Argentinian cruiser were “strait run” (no passive or active sonar). That fact that they needed a cascade of 16 bombers/re-fuelers to deliver four bombs to an airstrip, two of which missed. What a force!

Now they even had to decommission HMS “Invincible”, known to every motorhead on the planet as the launching ramp for black Stig’s demise (google “Top Gear”). Please shed a tear for the Royal Navy, all you Americans out there :-)

The Brits found out how effective an Exocet missile is, they didn’t get off “scot free”.
