CORN ethanol was never a good idea, but the “big agriculture” folks WERE the ones selling it, and the hybrids to produce it. The high cost of fossil fuels to produce it, distill it, and make up for the reduced fuel economy it produced, really “broke the hearts” of the oil companies as well.
