Chan Lowe's work has won several awards, including the Green Eyeshade Award in 1992, and second place in the 1996 John Fischetti Competition. In 1990, he was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. In 2000, he was awarded The National Press Foundation's Berryman Award.

Sorry WV. Maybe Ima was hatched? Or virgin birth? My father always said the difference between a hillbilly and an SOB was the Ohio River. Of course, his family lived on the Ohio side!

^ Yeah, in WV, I heard people from Ohio were called Buckeyes. I didn’t understand so I looked it up in the dictionary. It said a Buckeye was a worthless nut….
