TROUT must be off screen left.

Tell me TROUT… What will you do when Iran finally drives Israel into the sea— after you’re finished dancing in the street screeching “la-la-la-la-la” like an old Islamofascist woman, I mean.

These days it’s just nice to see on of the oldie timers still on this side of the grass.
    .
I liked Mohomar, not for his policies but for his swagger and his style and for the fact that he was a nut job who said entetaining things. I sort of miss him.

    .
I like Chavez, not for his politics but because he made the most of the time he had on the world stage. He’s still around, but we can’t hear him anymore.
    .
I liked Fidel! Cigar chomping fatigue wearing whore monger that he was! I’d have traded places with him in a heart beat, except for that whole, there’s always somebody trying to kill me thing! Be honest, wouldn’t you love to have had his job?
    .
Sadam was good for a couple of laughs. Hey, GHWBush used to absolutely LOVE Sadam! He sent him billions and billions of our dollars. He called them “Agricultural Loans”. Sadam didn’t grow anything and we never got the money back, but that’s nothing compared to the billions we just plain old lost track of in Iraq.
    .
Mock Mood, isn’t of the caliber of any of the above, but he has avoided “The Box” thus far. And he has people from below trying to kill him, the ones from above never let him forget that a snap of their fingers removes his head from his shoulders and he is sure that the USA is ready to come into Iran from the East (Afghanistan), from the sea to its South and from the West (Iraq). He is one jumpy little sand flea! Can’t blame him! I’ll miss him when he’s gone! Unless they come up with someone better!

.“Hitler probably had you rolling in the aisles.”
    .
    Godwin’s law, you lose.
    .
But. No. Hitler didn’t have swagger, he had goose-stepping. He didn’t have style he had affect. There was nothing “cool” about Hitler, and everything “cold.”
    .
And he was a war monger. The guys I listed were big talk no real action. Saddam invaded Kuwait. So what? He needed a port, if Lloyd George wasn’t such a self-important moron with a map and a pencil the middle east wouldn’t be the Gawsawful mess it is.
    .
What wars (beyond terrorist attacks, as bad as they are) did Libya get involved with.
    .
Aside from Iran/Iraq (which, as you know, we were on both sides of, egging them both on and supplying the mechanisms of destruction) where has Iran been “adventurous?”
    .
Castro? Chavez? Even you Churchillwasright. I appreciate a good blowhard! Especially ones who think they are “powerful”

    What a dolt.

    “Saddam invaded Kuwait. So what?”
No big deal if you’re not Kuwaiti. He also gassed his own citizens. No big deal.

    “…beyond terrorist attacks…”
They obviously don’t count in your world.

Maybe instead of Hitler I should have used Stalin or Mao. They only killed 100s of millions, but they were only their own citizens, so it’s no skin off your nose.

BTW, Hitler loved dogs and (Aryan) children. And he was a great painter. He could paint an entire apartment— two coats!— in one afternoon. Surely that must give him some “cool” bonefides in your book.

Saddam invaded Kuwait after GHW Bush told him to go ahead, because it was “an Arab to Arab thing.” PERIOD! We could have done much better back in ‘91, and didn’t, because our “leadership” was totally out to lunch, and we’re still paying the price.

    @churchillwasright

You’ll notice that I didn’t mention the gassing. You’ll also notice that I said that I don’t agree with the politics of any of the despots.
    .
There are enough words that actually come out of my mouth for you to argue with. I don’t need you putting any more words into my mouth for you to argue with.
    .
Yeah, they all did horrible things, but for example in the case of Saddam, he gassed tens of thousands, and so we killed millions to get rid of him. We starved the entire population for 10 years. The scars of the deprivation will be seen in, at the least, the Grandchildren of the children unborn and prepubescent during the siege…err I mean “Sanctions”… imposed by the benevolent USofA!
    .
    Relativistic morality much?
    .
In the case of Iran. It was the CIA that put the first Shah in power and he was a butcher extraordinaire! Only out done by his son.
    .
Back to Iraq, “His own people” as if! The end of the first world war saw Lloyd George, Woodrow Wilson and Clemenceau redrawing the map based on Wilson’s brilliant idea of awarding territories based on an ethnic claim.
    .
They spent so much time (with Lloyd George sticking it to Clemenceau fighting on the creation of a buffer zone between France and Germany, England being on the German’s side) on Europe that when it came time to divvie up the middle east England at first didn’t give a hoot, but then turned around and decided that it didn’t want Italy and or France being in charge of those territories, so instead of giving the three ethnicities their own country in what is now known as Iraq , he (Lloyd George) splintered the Kurds with a third in Turkey half in Iraq, this way they couldn’t be a big enough bother to either, nor worth the trouble of invading (a balance to keep the Turks from starting a new war).
    .
So to say that the Kurds that Saddam gassed were “his own people” is to forgive the westerners who bolloxed that up in the first place.
    .
So you, the guy who sticks doggedly to a particular statement of Winston’s which means, today, the exact opposite of what it when he said it, want to remember your history based on the sloganeering of Military Industrial death industry. Go ahead.
    .
    Some of us know better!

BTW, Orlando was there from Italy, and much time was spent trying to make sure that Italy got nothing! What did they wind up with? Ethiopia! They lost Greece into the bargain!
    .
What did France wind up with? Viet Nam! Morocco, Algiers! Woo Whoo! Yeah, that’ll help them rebuild their male population!
    .
Meanwhile England has India, Australia, China, Canada and a kick butt little bro by the name of USA! Still they decide they’ll take over a chunk of “Arabia!”
    .
Historically speaking, it’s really hard not to despise the Brits! Individually they’re OK but, as a country, throughout post Roman history, they are real _________ (insert derogatory word here).
