You have it backwards, Lemont: You should only care about what’s important to you, not to the clouds, sun, Milky Way, or the cosmos.

It’s not that the cosmos “doesn’t care” – it’s just indifferent.
Now Zusan, on the other hand… just roll over to your right side, Lemont, and see if she cares.

How does indifference differ from not caring?

Listen to Susan Lemont, a letter from the IRS isn’t exactly a little thing. Just ask Wesley Snipes, Lauryn Hill or Richard Hatch.

We are completely up to date on our taxes.
Too poor to owe any. Still file- like good turnips.

The cosmos doesn’t care. We care, because we choose to care.

Maybe it’s like the butterfly flapping it’s wings in the Amazon changing the weather in San Francisco. Maybe if we destroy the earth it will have unforeseen consequences on the Universe. Maybe the Cosmos does care.

I very much doubt that the Cosmos cares.

Of course, the cosmos also doesn’t care if you survive or not, or how nice or rotten your life might be. It is, indeed, entirely indifferent. Caring about that is entirely up to you….

which is why it’s sensible to care about that other stuff.
