    Clever!
I got accused of being rascist on the weekend. Well, I wasn’t even referring to race, but I was referring to idiot extremists. (On both sides). I didn’t realise that the person I was dialoging with was very much on one side. Ok to call the “others” fools, but saying it to “our side” makes it prejudiced.
So I will avoid any prejudicial terminology.
Good timing, good tip and good explanation for me.

When the topic of Obama comes up, I just stick to the facts of the conversation. People who use personal attacks instead of facts to back up their viewpoint are just plain foolish.

Is it really important which party gets to loot the country last for the bankers?

I fully agree; attacking Romney (let’s say) for being a Mormon is just as bad as attacking Obama for allegedly being a Kenyan/Socialist/Moslem. While I can think of many reasons not to vote for Romney, his religion is not among them.
    .
The fact remains, however, that while the far right feels free to label Obama a Kenyan/Socialist/Moslem and baselessly call him names like “Obummer”, similar attacks on Romney come not from the left but from the fringe-right. Simply saying that “both sides need to avoid personal attacks” sets up a false equivalency.

…I find the only people that use that line are the one’s that do say racist remarks…somehow it’s ok to quote made up facts, too. Now,you even get has been guitarists and singers saying offensive asinine statements just to regain some kind infamy and hopfully enough press to get on Celebrity Apprentice..personally,I’m tired of chewing tobacco as being taken as a sign of true political awareness….

You have entirely too much free time on your hands. But since you do, here’s an assignment: work just as hard at finding similar examples on the other side of the aisle. I promise you it won’t be difficult.

Impressive rant! I would have to add the observation that each party is blind to certain types of indiscretions on the part of its own members. Democrats, for example, are allowed to make racist remarks without comment where Republicans are castigated for it (“racist” doesn’t appear to be in the Republican catalog of approved insults). As for Republicans… You remember when Oliver North was hailed as a patriotic hero for selling weapons to a country
that annually celebrated “Death to America Day”? I don’t remember any Democrats
suggesting that he was a traitor to his country. The accusation of ‘treason’ doesn’t appear to be in the Democrat’s catalog of approved insults.
Personally, I suspect that there is only one party and that these apparent differences are carefully choreographed.

The problem/trick is that a claim of racism, or some other ism is often defined by the person or party being criticized, so any critique can be called “racist”.

“…baselessly call him names like ‘Obummer’. As opposed to ‘basefully’ calling his predecessor names like ‘Shrub’?

False equivalency. There is no mistaking that “Obummer” is derogatory, while “Shrub” is a neutral nickname that even Republicans used to refer to Bush Jr.

Uh, whats your point? Anybody with beyond a 3rd grade education already knows racism & bigotry is not exclusive to any one segment of society. You have nothing better to do then express your sad, pathetic existence at gocomics.com’s comment forum?? Sad for you. You have issues.

Lest we forget, it was southern DEMOCRATS who tried to block school integration and even had school entrances blocked to prevent a little black girl from entering. It was REPUBL;ICAN president Eisenhower who sent troops to force them to admit blacks.
Southern DEMOCRATS seceded and started the Civil War to prevent the abolition of slavery. It was REPUBLICAN Lincoln who issued the Emancipation Proclamation to free slaves.
