Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Here is an example of the varnished truth, from the early days of Peanuts:

The “noodle incident” is the great untold story of Calvin and Hobbes. Here is Snoopy writing a story in 1994, two years after today’s Calvin and Hobbes strip was published:

Thanks a lot to everyone who wrote nice comments yesterday. For those who thought that my long posting was supposed to be serious in nature, please go back and read the ending.
I was writing in a humorous style that intentionally starts out sounding at least somewhat plausible but becomes progressively more far-fetched as it progresses. The risk with this approach is that if someone only reads the beginning of the posting, they may accidentally conclude that the entire posting is intended to be serious.
So far, this has been a serious posting on the subject of non-serious postings that are mistaken for serious postings. (No kidding.)
For the future, my suggestion is that if you begin reading a long posting that appears to be deadly serious and you therefore fear that it will be seriously deadly to read, then before skipping over the rest of it and posting an expression of outrage regarding the outrageous posting, first jump to the conclusion so that you don’t accidentally jump to conclusions.

^ And that, boys and girls, is how I came about nicknaming him, Hobbes (TPPC).

The noodle incident can be as crazy as the reader imagines it to be. All you need is the mindset of a six-year-old and the rest is done for you.

Hobbes, are they picking on you again? Just ignore them, friend. No one’s forcing them to read what you post, so you go right on being you.

Mindset of a six year old? From a kid who talks like a Harvard professor? You can’t be serious.

And mentioned a couple of times over the years. Three cheers for the Noodle Incident! (I always think of some disaster with chicken noodle soup, for some reason.)
