Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Could be worse. He could be using the modern “Politically correct” “B.C.E.” which would be Before Calvin Existed…
I wonder how many of those professors would use B.C.E, if they knew where that got started? (Seems like many of the same professors are antisemitic)

They certainly couldn’t do it today. The teacher would be suspended and the parents would sue the school for unfairly targeting their child, and forcing him to endure undue humiliation. The ACLU loves cases like that.
