Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Yes, God does have a sense of humor.
“He that sits in the heavens shall laugh:”
Psalm 2:4a “Sorry to rain on your parade, Calvin”.
Sometimes Calvin is ‘all wet’.
If the flowers don’t get watered one way or another, people might sing, “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?”,… right JanCinVV?
“…be sure to wear a flower in your hair!”
from “San Francisco” in yesterday’s posts

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin, yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. Matthew 6:28-29

Sometimes help comes unexpected, without someone does anything! It’s help from heaven!
Crooky said, 11 months ago
I like your comment Yukoner. If plants and animals had to rely exclusively on humans for care, they’d be in a pretty sorry state. Actually many of them ARE - thanks to our “help”

Rain gods are dragons, that don’t trouble themselves with the petty ravings of mere mortals. But, they do pay heed to the edicts of the Jade Emperor lest they lose their heads.

Ushindi said, 11 months ago
BC13: My favorite was/is “Keep On Chooglin’”
Vonnegut: I “enjoy” quotation marks, I “love” “QMs”, I “dream” of “them”. I wish I could have had “” “” “” instead of children. Besides, why should I “listen” to “what” someone from the “University of Nebraska” “says”, or “writes”? They have “farm animals” and “corn” there.

Of course God has a sense of humor. Too much has happened in my live to explain any other way.

j42case said, 1 day ago: Without being nationalistic, the world did change 8 years ago. I find myself watching for the NYC skyline in old movies just to get a glimpse of the twin towers again.
Check out “Trading Places”. When Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroyd are getting out of the cab to foil the Dukes plan to gain in the FCOJ market, you will see a couple views of the Twin Towers.

LOL—Today’s comic is the best sermon I have ever seen. Love it!

I think worse than overuse of quotation marks is overuse of apostrophes, such as:
Apple’s $100/pound (What belonging to the apple is being sold?)
Frank’s and Bean’s (No, really, I’d rather have several beans with my frankfurter bits)
grammahotsho said, 11 months ago

It’s hard for me to pick just one, but I can narrow it down to 3: “Suzie Q”, “I Put A Spell On You” and “Born On the Bayou”

Agreed. I see no sermon here.

As for quotation marks & apostrophes, I prefer proper use. However any use of text talk is over-abuse.
Yukoner said, 11 months ago
A Sermon: How about the entire bible? You know, all those times where humans claimed that they were in control and God reminded them that although they had some power it was not nearly as great as they boasted.
I could keep going but I’m sure you get the idea.
jrbj said, 11 months ago
Why does God create people that inevitably are damned, when He knows before He creates them that they will be damned? Is that God’s sense of humor?

Remember the old saying (in either Yiddish or German, and please forgive the spelling):
“Mann tracht, und Gott laught!”
which means, more or less:
Man makes plans, and God just laughs.
