    Yes, technically pterodactyls are not dinosaurs, only a closely related order of reptiles. On the other hand, Calvin is, more or less, in the region of six years old. Like any six-year-old, he has some remarkable knowledge, in areas he’s interested in, but not in others.

    Still, given his interest in dinosaurs, it is perhaps odd he doesn’t know the distinction.

    OTOH, were Calvin to be a three foot tall fly, think of how he could gross everyone out! Yum, bugs!

    In Pogo, the name of that creature was spelled (and pronounced) “p-tooie-daffodil”. And that’s how I think of it to this day.
