Good choice, Broomie. As the tree ’said," a tree is more easily wounded than its size might make you think….

This tree is better behaved than the apple trees in the Wizard of Oz movie with Dorothy.

I’ve been watching Once Upon a Time on Sunday night. Dorothy will make an appearance on the 4th of May.

I remember hearing that you can kill a tree just by carving a ring under the bark, all the way around. Cuts the leaves off from the roots, and vice versa. :(

I like this gentle message. I hope it resounds with the folks who like to deface a living organism.

I enjoyed this kindly approach to tree preservation. We had a real tragedy here in Central Florida, where one of the oldest and largest specimen trees of Bald Cypress (called “the Senator”, because it had been donated to our County by a US Senator) was destroyed by a crack addict who was hiding in the tree and set a fire so she could smoke her pipe.
Fortunately for us, the tree had a number of clones that had been developed from it, and a new one has been planted. But it will take hundreds of years to grow that large again.
That said, I thought Arbor Day was the last Friday in April(?)
