Good point. Things like free trade, while NAFTA, WTO, etc, were on the 103rd congress’ watch, the Republicans seem to like them too, despite having destroyed our industrial base and with it, most middle-class jobs. .As of last week, the labor department’s numbers were stunning. Some 98 million are out of work. Consider that we have 300+ million people, half of which are working age. That is more than 50% unemployment, which is more than the 22% of the Great Depression..While it might well have been better— socialism has never worked anywhere it’s been done— the Republicans cave easily in just about everything. A little heat and they wilt. Or they are inconsistent, like Rand Paul, a doctor, completely blowing it on the value of human life one week after his fillibuster protesting the ignoring of the 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments..It’s the difference between one party too scared to do the things they know they should do to restore the economy, the rule of law, etc., and a party that has no interest in doing the right thing, having adopted a divide, conquer, and bribe. One cares, but not enough to weather the storms of criticism, and the other is primarily interested in personal power via socialism. .As a situation, it stinks.
