Living in Lake Havasu City, had an 8 foot square of grass so my 2-year old would know what it felt like, and a saguaro in the yard, as well as cholla, beavertail, and a lot of rocks.
Another little note; Florida too has been in drought conditions through most of the past five years, folks just THINK it’s always wet there, it isn’t.
Water wasting is an American tradition, well, wasting land is right up there as well, but it’s especially been disastrous in the arid west. Depleted topsoil in the midwest is also a direct result of human activity, and also actually has climate impacts as well.
