Well, after being lost in tales of ancient Kazookistan throughout the historic election of Barack Obama, Brenda seems to be back on a very contemporary tip!
Did I miss something? I don’t remember a visit from Starr Twinkle. I seem to recall the last adventure starting with Brand Bottomline returning from vacation with a photo of Basil., then Brenda calling Wanda, and then Sage showing up on her doorstep.
Star Twinkle was lost by Brenda and Basil and I assume is presumed dead, and I assume that by the way Brenda and Basil have totally erased her from their memories. I also assume that the red-headed roller skating girl from a few years back was Star Twinkle but it was never verified and again Brenda didn’t really seem to give a damn… I mean having a kid would cramp her style as a Star Reporter/editor.
Sad thing is that readership is down across the board. I live and Seattle and the truth is the PI and the Times merged boards quite a few years ago under what what was called a Joint Operating Agreement. So the loss of the paper version of the PI isn’t really that big a deal from a news point of view. More people get their news from the Net and cable news. Papers are nothing more that hamstercage liners anymore.
May be Starr will get fired, dazzle a fatherly billionaire, and finally an opportunity to work as the Editor/Reporter of a newspaper that is not dysfuctional.
June Brigman and Mary Schmich’s classic soap-opera strip was a pioneer: a comic featuring a strong female lead character. Brenda Starr’s adventures, if not a realistic portrayal of a reporter’s life, have nevertheless captured the imagination of millions of readers.

I’m pretty new to this strip. When was Starr Twinkle last seen and how old is she now?

Thanks for the information. I hope Starr is alive. That would be a good story.

Why do Brenda and Spiff seem so HAPPY? You would swear they were talking about something trivial.
