my grandsons just turned 16 in June and they finally got their learner permit but neither of them seem too anxious to get the license and drive alone. I don’t think they want the responsibility, it is easier to let someone else do the driving.
Which does NOT bother me at all. ((sigh))…..I just want them to stay young as long as possible.

Highly recommend waiting to let your children drive until they are at least 17. 16 year olds are 8 times more likely to have an accident then a (I think it is) 18 year old, something to do with brain development and distractability.

I paid about $600 bucks for each of my kids to take advanced driving lessons (Master Drive). It lowered their insurance premiums and gave then life saving lessons in defensive and accident avoidance driving. We told our kids they could get their permits at 16 1/2 and go for their test at 17 1/2.

Be willing to shuttle your kids around just a little while longer and you just might save a life….Also check out the other young drivers they may ride with. We told them no more than 3 people in any car they got in. The likelihood of a distraction accident zooms up when you have a car load of kids cruising around…
