The Origin of the word cliffhanger is…. The term ‘cliffhanger’ may have originated with Thomas Hardy’s serial novel A Pair of Blue Eyes in 1873. At the time newspapers published novels in a serial format with one chapter appearing every month.

Let her either know it on her own, or blow it on her own, O Peter, you little lovable lisping geek!! Besides, we KNOW that you know it. So zip it. The grins on N & T’s mugs are not to be trod upon, at least for this one more day!! Mirth! MIRTH!!

Will he or won’t he “blurt it out”? Only Lincoln Peirce knows for sure at this point.
