Time to go to the computer, or a dictionary to look up what a “wombat” is and where it lives. The ancient giant wombat as big or bigger than the extant bears would be formidable. How about Thilacleo carnifex? The real marsupial “lion.”

Wombats are short-legged, quadrupedal marsupials native to Austrailia that are about one meter/yard in length.

They are wonderful animals and superb diggers. Quite friendly and cuddly with people, I’m told.

The University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan sports teams are, in fact, the Fighting Wombats.

For those who don’t know what a wombat is, I recommend this:

“The Zombie Wombats.” Sounds like a good name for a band.
