    @Ryan (Say what now‽)

    Ryan (ptor) – in a highly globalized world in which the Canadian economy is competing with every other economy on earth, it’s all about productivity. Just think of the savings, and therefore increased productivity, if our northern cousins, and the Brits, and similarly spelling nations, did away with the extraneous letter “u” in colour, flavour, favour, etc. Savings in printer ink alone would be staggering, and there would be meaningful personnel savings in keystroking output. Think about it. Next – that unnecessary “i” in aluminium.

    I guess they have never had grapes that have been allowed to ripen without girdling. It makes the grapes bigger, but really reduces the flavor. Also, artificial grape is basically Concord, but you rarely see them in store’s any more. They have seeds and are used for juice and jelly.

    And then there are FLAVORED BEERS – like this one –
    Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale – from Rogue Ales
    Bacon-maple-bar BEER (and they get $10/bottle – at the Rogue brewery in Newport Oregon – under the south side of the bay bridge on 101)

    frumdebang: Aluminium went out when Aluminium Ltd became AlCan. I only once saw the old spelling in the six years I lived in Canada in the mid ’70s.
