I think this is referred to that typical party game where the kids sit in a circle and pass along a “bundle” made of various layers of paper; inside every layer there is a little gift, or gadget. The kids pass this bundle while the music plays, and when the music stops, the kid who has the bundle in their hands gets to open one layer, and keep the gadget inside of it. Then the game restarts with the music, and goes on until only the “core” of the bundle is left, and usually the core contains the best present. In this strip, Tonus awaits impatiently for the bundle to arrive in his hands, and when it finally arrives, he hopes the music will end, but it doesn’t, so he’s forced to pass the bundle. But as soon as he passes it, the music stops, so he goes up in his room and leaves the party as a protest, very pissed.

I think she’s throwing a tantrum because she missed out on unwrapping the gift. She held it, trying to ensure the music would stop on her and that she would be able to unwrap it, but the music didn’t stop. Instead it stopped on the person right next to her, so she’s upset.

Sounds interesting. I’ll have to remember it if I ever have to put together a children’s birthday party. Sounds safer than a pinata.

Definitely a game I never heard of but sounds very interesting. Only musical one I can think of is “Musical Chairs”.

Thanks folks, for the “splanation! Now it makes sense. And the only game I knew of with music was musical chairs, also..

Sometime ago, before 9/11/01, someone marketed a adult party came called “Pass the Bomb.”

The premise was similar, except the item passed ticked. If you were holding it when the ticking stopped, you were blown up (knocked out of the game)

In today’s world, the game is not very PC.

The bomb game is ancient. We had it when I was a kid. It looked like one of those cartoon round bombs with a red “fuse” on the top that functioned as the timer. All of which was just an electronic form of the game hot potatoe we used to play.
